Make it stand out.

WomanEwer in residency at The Halley Gallery, by Regent’s canal, above Cafe Route, Haggerston, developing an immersive live performance within an art installation. On the 8th of March 2022, celebrating International Women’s day, the exhibition opened to the public, with three performances followed by a Q&A.

Performers: Sara, Was Shan, Laura, Melanie, Indira and Margaret (violinist). Short films including interviews and video recordings, original sound, textual and visual work, some inspired by the content developed during the residencies, were carefully organized and installed in the space around the bodies in motion. Scraps of fabric from the multi-hued and multi-layered costumes flew off the dancers as they whirled and merged, flailng and spinning. These rags are reminiscent of the multitude of uses that women find to make and mend with what comes to hand to provide for themselves and their families, even to absorb menstrual blood.
